Get Heart-Centered Before Your Feet Touch the Floor
It’s a Good Day for Heart-Centered Entrepreneurs
Do you do any morning stretches before you get out of bed? Kind of wake up your body gently and get any night-time kinks out before moving into a sitting position? This came highly recommended to me by an Alexander Technique teacher and my chiropractor. It’s now a habit and I do it almost without thinking (some mornings without being fully awake!).
Then I read about another kind of morning stretch, one that could wake up my heart gently and set my vibrational tone for the day. Some people call this pre-paving, but I like thinking of it as calling in my daily vibe.
All it takes is a piece of paper and pen or pencil. You can write lying down or sitting up, but what’s important is doing it first thing or as close as possible to when you first wake up. Answer the question,
“How do I want to feel today?”
It may be single words, or a phrase about how you want to feel in relation to a particular event that’s coming up that day. To get you started experimenting with WHAT A DIFFERENCE this can make to the whole day:
- here’s a post by the incomparable Andrea Conway, Law of Attraction coach for small business success, that describes the process, and …
- (tah-dah!) a link to a free downloadable bookmark created by yours truly that you can use for this activity.
Make it a good day!

Jana – wow, did I need this reminder! I typically sleep on my side curled up (fetal position anyone?), but I don’t do anything to open up my heart center till later in the morning when I get around to stretching. Love the idea of stretching in bed! And thank you for creating the To Feel bookmark! I appreciate your spreading the word about this old Abraham-Hicks process that’s still my favorite – and the bookmark makes it even more fun!

Hi Jana, I got to this post after reading the following week’s post, and it immediately put me in mind of one of my favorite poems, which I’ll share with you here.
No Doctors Today, Thank You
They tell me that euphoria is the feeling of feeling wonderful; well, today I feel euphorian,
Today I have the agility of a Greek god and the appetite of a Victorian.
Yes, today I amy even go forth without my galoshes;
Today I am a swashbuckler, would anybody like me to buckle any swashes?
This is my euphorian day,
I will ring welkins and before anybody answers I will run away.
I will tame me a caribou
And bedeck it with maribou.
I will pen me my memoirs.
Ah youth, youth! What Euphorian days them was!
I wasn’t much a of hand for the boudoirs,
I was generally to be found where the food was.
Does anybody want any flotsam?
I’ve gotsam.
Does anybody want any jetsam?
I can getsam.
I can play “Chopsticks” on the Wurlitzer,
I can speak Portuguese like a Berlitzer.
I can don or doff my shoes without tying or untying the laces because I am wearing moccasins,
And I practically know the difference between serums and antitoccasins.
Kind people, don’t think me purse-proud, don’t set me down as vainglorious,
I’m just a little euphorious.
– Ogden Nash
