Ease and the Nurtured Entrepreneur
Dear Nurtured Entrepreneur,
Several years ago I was eating at a Chinese restaurant with a large party of friends, my 30-something nephew among them. When it came time to open and read our fortune cookies, he informed all assembled that at the end of their fortune they should add the words ‘in bed.’ Laughter ensued as we took turns reading our fortunes punctuated by these words. Think of some of your former cookie fortunes and you’ll get the idea (and try it next time fortune cookies are served – it’s fun!).
Ease isn’t germane to our western culture. Typically, and in various ways, it is frowned upon. If our entrepreneurial business is flowing with too much ease, we sometimes feel UN-easy.

Time to lay down some new neural pathways in our brains, take the lead as cultural creatives and visionary entrepreneurs, and claim ease as an essential part of our work with passion. Taking “our ease” is part of nurturing ourselves. In her wonderful book, Make Your Creative Dreams Real, author SARK reminds us:
“We’re not often taught to nourish ourselves when we’re young. Our ability to self-nourish can be studied, practiced, and expanded upon. This nourishment is necessary in order to make creative dreams real. If we are well nourished, our creative dreams will leap out to play and be seen.”
Doesn’t that sound fun?! Here’s an experiment you can use to reclaim your ease and help your creative dreams leap out and play. Using scraps of quotations, printed affirmation cards, and sticky notes – or your ever-expanding creative entrepreneurial TO-DO list – play with adding the two words, “with ease” to the end like this:
(from my TO-DO list)
- Complete client biography … with ease.
(useful mantra from author Dan Millman)
- Here. Now. Breathe. Relax … with ease.
(quotation from Dr. Mitch Johnson, Nashville, TN, Science of Mind)
- The greatest Power that exists is available to me … with ease.
(from my TO-DO list)
- Update my Services web site page … with ease.
(quotation from Louise Hay affirmation card)
- My good comes from everywhere and everyone … with ease.
(quotation from Mary Engelbreit)
- Have your cake and eat it too … with ease!
Speak your statements aloud. Hearing the words helps your brain take them to heart. Wishing you ease and leaping creative dreams!
Until next time …
