The Gift of New Beginnings

Renew.  Revitalize.  Release.  Winter has been longer and harder for many this year.  Likewise, some in the southern hemisphere have had record-breaking summer heat.  This turning of the year, whether toward springtime or the splendors of autumn is most welcome.

This morning, my dog woke me wanting to go out extra early.  I got up quickly once I recognized the sounds and pulled on my robe.  Since I was already up and in the kitchen, I fed her breakfast.  Then I went to brush my teeth and wash my face; the opposite of my usual routine.

When I returned to the kitchen to make tea, I realized that I was feeling light and happy.  Sometimes in the morning, I’m visited by a press of concerns from the previous day or the task list that sits propped up on my desk.  The change in routine had disengaged or by-passed my habitual thinking patterns.

This morning I had a feeling of expectancy.  What would this brand new day bring?  It was the gift of a new beginning.  Lots of food for thought arose from this experience.  Perhaps for you, too, as you contemplate this little story.

May doorways open to new beginnings in your life and work this season.  May you receive this gift with delight and appreciation.

It’s so easy for me to get stuck in “repeat” patterns! You know all about coaching people to help them find their blind spots, Jane, so I’m glad you’re getting a little boost for yourself from this reminder.
